Overview
A voice-first notes and reminders app for iOS and Android. Users say what is on their mind — "send the offer to the client tomorrow at 9" — and SayPin transcribes it in Serbian (Latin or Cyrillic), gives the note a title and summary, suggests a reminder for the right time and nudges them a few minutes early. Text, voice, images and video live together in a single note, and everything works offline, with no account required to start.
The challenge
Mainstream voice assistants barely understand Serbian, and most note apps treat voice as an afterthought. SayPin had to turn natural, casual speech into accurate text in Latin or Cyrillic, recognise when a sentence contains a time and turn it into a reminder, and make capture so fast that it beats sending yourself a Viber voice message. It also had to work without a network, keep data private and in the EU, and keep transcription costs predictable as usage grows.
Our solution
We built a local-first Expo (React Native) app where the phone is the source of truth: notes, entries and reminders live in SQLite and sync in the background to Supabase, with row-level security and conflict resolution by last edit. Recordings go through edge functions that call OpenAI speech-to-text, then a lightweight language model drafts the title, summary and reminder suggestion. Capture is one tap away through iOS widgets and lock-screen controls, an Android home-screen widget and a Quick Settings tile, while anonymous accounts let people start instantly and upgrade with an email code later.
