How Serbian Businesses Can Accept IPS QR Payments Online

A practical guide to IPS QR payments for Serbian e-commerce and service businesses — what it is, how it works, and how to add it to your website.

How Serbian Businesses Can Accept IPS QR Payments Online

If you sell to customers in Serbia, there’s a payment method your competitors probably aren’t using yet — and it costs nothing per transaction.

What IPS actually is

IPS Skeniraj is the National Bank of Serbia’s instant-payment QR standard. The customer scans a code with their banking app, and the payment fields — recipient, amount, reference number — fill in automatically. No manual account-number typing, no card fees for the merchant.

Why it matters for conversion

  • Bank-to-bank, so there’s no card processing fee eating your margin
  • Trusted — every major Serbian bank supports it natively
  • Mobile-first, which matches how most Serbian consumers actually shop

Two ways to add it

The simplest is a standalone generator that produces a QR code and PDF slip per order — fine for lower volume or invoice-based businesses (we built a free one at ipsgenerator.rs for exactly this). For a real checkout flow, you embed IPS generation directly into your order pipeline, so the code appears automatically at checkout with the right amount and reference already filled in.

Where it fits

Not a replacement for card payments — an addition. Offer both, and let Serbian customers pick the one they already trust.

We’ve built this into checkout flows for a few clients now — happy to walk through what it’d take for yours.
